Mayur Sirdesai

Board Member

Mayur Sirdesai has been associated with the Healthcare sector for over 25 years and has worked in various roles in the sector including private equity, strategy consulting, advisory services, manufacturing, and marketing both in an entrepreneurial and professional capacity.

He is the founder of and currently runs a healthcare-focused PE fund called Somerset Indus Capital Partners focused on investments in healthcare products and services platforms in India. The fund focuses on investments that create sustainable impact in the healthcare sector by providing access to affordable quality healthcare in India within a strong ESG framework. He is on the board of directors for several of the fund portfolio companies. Previously, he has also worked with reputed organizations like IMS Health and Colgate Palmolive.

Mayur holds a Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Bombay, a Master's degree in Chemical Engineering from Penn State University, and an MBA degree in Finance from the University of Texas at Austin. He is based in Mumbai, India.

Mayur is a member of the Board of Directors of the IIT Bombay Alumni Association (his alma mater) and is currently serving his second term. As part of his activities there, he is involved with many philanthropic initiatives which support alumni needs and serves on its investment and audit committees. Earlier, Mayur was involved with the educational sector as a Board Member of a reputed school in Goa, India.

He has also been involved in the healthcare start-up space wherein he has created startups in the areas of Medical Devices and Stem Cell Banking and Research and is mentoring several healthcare entrepreneurs too. He is on the technical evaluation panel of BIRAC BIG grant program which is the Indian government biotech/ MedTech incubator ecosystem. He is on the Advisory Board of SINE (IIT Bombay’s Incubator) as a mentor as well as on the Healthcare Investment committee of SINE. He is also associated with BETIC – the MedTech Incubator of IIT Bombay.
